Moment has passed for West Ham to sign Manchester United midfielder

West Ham missed their opportunity to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

David Moyes’ side was repeatedly linked with a move for the Scotland midfielder during the summer transfer window. There were even reports of a £40 million bid for McTominay’s signature, as per Football Insider, but it stayed at Old Trafford.

McTominay is currently United’s leading goalscorer this season, but there is still a feeling that we would sell if the price was right.

Reporter Alan Nixon was asked by one X user whether West Ham or anyone else had any interest in McTominay ahead of the January transfer window. Nixon, well known for his updates, explained that the moment has passed for the Hammers to sign the United academy graduate.

Nixon adds his own personal opinion that West Ham “signed superbly” last summer, which suggests that they don’t feel they’ve missed the boat on McTominay.

Plus, I’m sure they wish they signed Harry Maguire despite their failed attempt.

I’d argue West Ham’s defence is still an area of concern for Moyes and he’d sign Maguire in a heartbeat.
