Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest: Antony starts, Hojlund misses out

Manchester United are targeting a winning end to 2023 when they take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground this evening. Erik ten Hag has named his starting eleven ahead of the match but the Reds are without Rasmus Hojlund due to illness.

United, who have won each of their last 11 meetings with Nottingham Forest, will be looking to build on Boxing Day’s 3-2 win over high-flying Aston Villa.

The challenge now for United is to try and string together a positive run of results in 2024.

Forest go into the game after beating Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

It seems that barely a game goes by without a United player going down with illness or a minor injury. Hojlund would have hoped to add to his tally after scoring against Villa, but his absence means Ten Hag has no other choice but to make changes to his team.

Andre Onana starts between the sticks – behind a back four consisting of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans and Diogo Dalot.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo keeps his place alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

The front three consists of Antony, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United XI vs Nottingham Forest: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Evans, Dalot; Mainoo, Eriksen, Fernandes; Antony, Rashford, Garnacho.
