Christian Eriksen insists things will get better at Manchester United

Christian Eriksen has looked back on Manchester United’s season so far after the club’s 14th defeat of the season in all competitions on Saturday evening.

Erik ten Hag’s men made the trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest in their final fixture of the year and make the journey back with a continued poor run of form.

United have now won just two of their last nine games in all competitions and although Ten Hag will be given the benefit of the doubt due to the circumstances surrounding United’s form, he is under increasing pressure to turn things around.

Injuries have been a problem this season, with Ten Hag’s being without a sizeable chunk of his first-team regulars for extended periods.

Christian Eriksen, one of the players to be in and out of the side due to availability, played the full 90 minutes at Forest and after the game, he insisted there are better times to come.

“This season in general has been one step forward and two steps back and it felt like that today,” he told the BBC.

“Our aim was to get three points so it’s definitely disappointing to come away with zero.

“We tried our best but sometimes the luck and the better decisions in the final third, the better defending and the small details don’t happen.

“We had our chances. They had a lot less but scored them. At the moment we don’t. We need a few chances to score goals and it makes things more difficult.

“Everyone is just trying to get goals to help the team. We are in the situation to score but at the moment it won’t go in.

“Things will heal and get better. There’s only one way forward and that’s to work hard. Sometimes it goes against us. As a footballer you want the best game every day but the only way to do that is to work.”

When asked if he believes it will get better with time, the Danish international responded: “Yes, I do believe that, yes.”

United now have a nine-day wait before their next game and after that, they welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford before a two-week winter break.

By that time, Ten Hag will hope to have the majority of his squad back and hopefully, that can spark somewhat of a turnaround.

  1. Always jam tomorrow. “ We must defend better. We need to score more. We must control midfield.” No shit, Sherlock, but that’s been said all season and it’s abundantly clear you have no idea how to achieve it. The hell with injuries, decent teams can adapt. You lot don’t suffer from lack of players so much as lack of desire, or heart, or cojones – call it what you will. Is it too much trouble, or what? The only way after United is down, but who do you think might want you lot if United finally show you the door? ( forza Ratcliffe ). You’ll not get trampled in the rush, I promise you.
