‘Announced soon’: Romano says exclusive Manchester United update will be confirmed to fans imminently

Manchester United will announce Donny van de Beek’s departure over the coming days ahead of his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt on January 1.

The midfielder can’t officially make the switch until the window opens in the new year, but Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that the deal is signed and sealed, and that it’ll be announced soon’.

Van de Beek will join the Bundesliga outfit on an initial half-season loan, after which Frankfurt and United will discuss whether the transfer will be made permanent. A fee of €15 million (£13m) including add-ons has been included in the terms, though it is not mandatory.

Van de Beek’s underwhelming United career

After his highly-anticipated move from Ajax in 2020, Van de Beek just never really got going in a red shirt. Limited game-time combined with injuries and lacklustre performances has led to him having a minor role under both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and now, Erik ten Hag.

The 26-year-old is believed to have rebuffed interest from clubs in the summer in favour of staying at Old Trafford but has since been granted just two cameos across the term, totalling 21 minutes worth of action.

Hopefully, for the sake of his career, he’s able to oversee his own personal resurgence in Germany.
