Manchester United are believed to be weighing up a move for Everton stalwart Amadou Onana, who could leave the club in 2024.

The Red Devils’ reported interest comes courtesy of journalist Santi Aouna of Footmercato, who also claims that Barcelona have ignited their pursuit in Onana by holding a meeting with the player’s representatives.

Onana signed for the Toffees from Lille in 2022 and played a pivotal role in their Premier League survival last term with his spirited performances at the heart of Everton’s midfield.

Now, he’s looking to maintain his form in Sean Dyche’s resurgent squad and keep the side afloat following their widely-covered 10-point deduction. A calf injury has kept him out of a handful of matches as of late, but he marked his return to the starting 11 in style by providing a crucial opener against Burnley on Saturday.

Dyche and the Everton board would undoubtedly be reluctant to part ways with the 22-year-old if European clubs approach, however, they could be forced to cash in in order to comply with FFP regulations, as Onana is certainly one of their most valuable assets.

As such, should the time come when the Merseyside outfit decide to sell, they would reportedly demand a fee of around €55 million (£47m).
