‘Not good enough’ – Diogo Dalot reflects on United crashing out of Champions League

Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot admits that Manchester United’s Champions League knockout is ‘not good enough’, but somehow believes the performance against Bayern Munich should set the standard of the season.

Kingsley Coman scored the only goal of the game as Bayern won 1-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night, stretching their six-year unbeaten run in the group stage. United could only manage four points from six games, but we also conceded 15 goals which is the reason we couldn’t collect more points.

United only have themselves to blame for twice surrendering two-goal lead away from home to lose against Copenhagen and draw against Galatasaray in Istanbul. Then it came to losing 1-0 against Bayern to knock us out of Europe.

“We cannot concede so many goals that we conceded in this group stage. It’s just not good enough. We’re absolutely sad,” Dalot told club media after the match, as per the Daily Mail.

“But, at the same time, we just have to realise that this is not the standard that we want to set for this club and for us. So we have to get better.”

United finished bottom of Group A and will miss out on a place in the Europa League as a result. I don’t think anyone will be losing sleep over that because United have had so many injuries this season.
