United’s debilitating injury crisis continues as Harry Maguire is replaced early vs Bayern Munich

Harry Maguire has been substituted just five minutes shy of half-time against Bayern Munich after appearing to sustain a groin injury.

The centre-back looked as though he pulled something while vying for the ball, proceeding to halt play himself by kicking it out of play to receive treatment from Manchester United’s staff.

Maguire then opted to stay on the pitch for a brief spell, before being replaced by Jonny Evans, who will now partner Raphael Varane in the backline for the remainder of the clash.

A Maguire layoff is the last thing United needs

Having just won Premier League Player of the Month, Maguire – and United – would be saddened to see him dealt a layoff over the coming weeks. He has been resurgent this season and has proven to be a stalwart for the club numerous times, cementing his name on the teamsheet in the process.

The scoreline is currently 0-0 at Old Trafford heading into the interval.
