Pundit hammers ‘cry-baby’ Bruno Fernandes for poor leadership

Chris Sutton loves a bandwagon, especially when it involves jumping on Manchester United after a bad result. This time he has called Bruno Fernandes a “cry-baby” for how he earned a yellow card against Bournemouth towards the end of our most recent beating.

I will be the first to state that it was one of Bruno Fernandes’ worst performances of the season against Bournemouth as United lost 3-0, and he would probably tell you it was one of his worst in a United shirt.

Fernandes picked up his fifth booking of the campaign, which means he will miss the trip to Anfield as a result.

Two pundits – Michael Owen and Richard Keys – have since accused Fernandes of purposely ruling himself out of the away game versus Liverpool, which is the ultimate criticism to lay at a club captain.

Sutton, however, was extremely critical of Fernandes and even donated his entire Daily Mail column to the Portugal international.

He wrote: “Then he earned a yellow card for acting like a cry-baby towards the end of this beating. That was his fifth of the season, so he’s now banned for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool – a fixture United lost 7-0 last season. It was more poor leadership from the captain.”

Fernandes will miss the trip to Anfield but he will be available for United’s crucial Champions League tie against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.

Can Fernandes make any amendments against the Germans?
