Erik ten Hag has made numerous changes from Manchester United’s dismal 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United last Saturday.
The Red Devils sustained a 10th loss in all competitions courtesy of the rampant Magpies at St. James’ Park; it’s the earliest that they’ve registered double digits of defeats since the 1973/74 campaign, which saw United ultimately relegated.
Alas, anything less than a win this evening against Chelsea would see the pressure already mounted on Ten Hag’s shoulders increase significantly, as he continues to oversee a record-breakingly low campaign in M16.
United’s confirmed starting XI
In hopes of his squad putting in a spirited shift on their home turf, the Dutchman has opted to shuffle his starting 11 by dropping Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, deploying a front three of Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Antony.
Kobbie Mainoo has been replaced by Sofyan Amrabat, while Luke Shaw has returned to the left flank and Victor Lindelof partners Harry Maguire centrally. Diogo Dalot is preferred to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
