Manchester United are continuing to struggle this season after Erik ten Hag’s men suffered their 10th defeat of the season at the weekend.
Six of them have come in the Premier League and although form has picked up lately, United have set themselves up for a gruesome second half of the season.
They are on the verge of dropping out of the Champions League and as things stand, a third-place finish in the group is not guaranteed either and they could spend the second half of the season out of Europe altogether.
There are a number of players that are said to not be on good terms with the manager, with Jadon Sancho exiled from the first-team squad for the best part of three months now.
United have been far from convincing on the pitch and are not imposing themselves on their opponents like they did last season.
Despite the constant criticism, Ten Hag has insisted that his players are fans of the current playing style, claiming they want to play the kind of football that is currently on show.
“I listen always to my players, I give them always opportunities to tell — if the players have a different opinion of course I will listen,” Ten Hag is quoted as saying by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
“Maybe one or two [have told me], but it is about in general, the majority want to play like this proactive, dynamic brave that is what they want. No issues.”
United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford tomorrow evening and Ten Hag needs three points to, hopefully, kickstart another winning run after winning five of their previous six games prior to the defeat at Newcastle.
