Chelsea’s summer signing Christopher Nkunku is yet to make his official debut for the club, having signed on a £52 million deal from RB Leipzig in the summer.

The prolific frontman’s maiden outing is being eagerly anticipated by the Stamford Bridge faithful, as his talents will certainly benefit the Blues in the second half of the campaign.

Nkunku featured for Chelsea in their pre-season tour but sustained a severe knee injury that required surgery, ruling him out of the opening of the term. Now, according to a recent update from trusted journalist Simon Phillips (via his Substack), the Frenchman could be in line to make the matchday squad to face Manchester United tomorrow evening.

Nkunku could make debut at Old Trafford

Alas, it’s unlikely he’ll start from the get-go given his fitness concerns, but a late cameo could be enough to register a contribution against the currently in-disarray Red Devils. Both sides have overseen far-from-ideal seasons thus far with United now seventh-placed and Chelsea, 10th.

Nkunku registered 23 goals and nine assists in all competitions for Leipzig in 2022/23, as well as 70 goals and 56 assists across his total 172 appearances for the German outfit.
