Aaron Ramsdale played for the Arsenal at Brentford this weekend in what was an evening of ups and downs for the goalkeeper.
Ramsdale, who was recalled to Mikel Arteta’s starting XI with David Raya ineligible to face his parent club. He had a nightmare moment in the opening 15 minutes of the game as he let the ball get stuck under his feet.
Arsenal fans were relieved that Ramsdale recovered well and kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Brentford on Saturday.
However, after losing his place in the Arsenal team this season, Ramsdale has been linked with a move elsewhere in January. This has led to links with Chelsea, Newcastle and Wolves.
That was before former Premier League player turned pundit, Jonathan Walters, said he thinks United will be keen on the out-of-favour keeper.
Taking to his X account last night, Walters said he thinks United will be one of the clubs queuing up for Ramsdale when his time at Arsenal comes to an end:
I absolutely love @AaronRamsdale98
1st class GK and comes across as a great guy.
I’m certain there will be multiple top clubs queuing up to take him if he became available.
…Man Utd being one of them!— Jonathan Walters (@JonWalters19) November 25, 2023
It’s crazy talk because United spent big to bring Andre Onana to the club in the summer. While the Cameroonian has had a mixed start to life at Old Trafford, I wouldn’t write him off just yet.
Ramsdale would crumble under the pressure he’d face at United. There’s a reason he has been quickly shunted down Arteta’s pecking order at the Emirates.
