Just when we thought matters couldn’t get any worse on the injury front at Manchester United, it turns out Antony is absent from today’s squad at Everton after sustaining a knock in training.
Antony is the latest Manchester United player to pick up an injury, with Mason Mount ruled out of action just days before him.
The Brazilian misses out on a place in the squad to face Everton this evening. He sustained a knock in training, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Academy graduate Joe Hugill has been promoted to the bench as a result of Antony’s injury – as well as Rasmus Hojlund, who was deemed not match-fit after a scheduled fitness test over the weekend.
Antony joins a long list of injured United players. It includes Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro, Mount and Eriksen.
With Antony ruled out, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford will operate the wings in attack. Anthony Martial gets a rare start as the Frenchman leads the attack.
Hopefully Antony isn’t ruled out for long but it’s another chance for Garnacho to show his worth in the team.
