There are a couple of fringe players Manchester United could see the back of in the upcoming January transfer window as Erik ten Hag continues to trim his unbalanced squad.

Donny van de Beek is among those players and the Dutchman is reportedly the subject of interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray.

Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire were said to be close to exits in the summer but United’s injury situation could mean they stick around for the full campaign.

Raphael Varane started the season as part of Ten Hag’s first-choice backline but since then, he has slipped behind all of United’s centre-backs.

The Frenchman has not been able to build on his promising second campaign at the club and now, it is being reported that he is unhappy with his situation.

That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, who says that the 2018 World Cup winner would be given the green light to leave the club in January.

As per the report, United are open to letting Varane leave but only on a permanent deal and a loan agreement is not up for discussion as things stand.

Furthermore, it’s said that United value any sale at between €20m and €30m. Bayern Munich, who make the trip to Old Trafford in the final Champions League group game later this fall, are said to be monitoring the situation.

As things stand, United are thin in most areas but they have been particularly vulnerable at centre-back, with Jonny Evans and Lisandro Martinez currently on the sidelines.
