Raphael Varane lost his place in the Manchester United recently as Erik ten Hag opted to select Jonny Evans instead of the World Cup-winning Frenchman.

This lead to reports that Varane could leave Old Trafford in January, with moves to Bayern Munich and Saudi Arabia being tipped by the media.

According to The Sun, Varane is ‘more interested’ in a move to Italy than he is to Saudi Arabia.

The centre-back is believed to be weighing up the prospect of leaving United in the new year, while other reports stress he has been left baffled by Ten Hag.

Only time will tell which Italian clubs are considering a switch for the 30-year-old centre-back.

Varane has been linked with a big-money move to the Saudi Pro League and this is the first time we have heard that he isn’t convinced by moving to the Middle East.

Furthermore, the report adds that Ten Hag doesn’t intend to let Varane leave midway through the season.

United have had so many injuries in defence this season, I would be shocked if Ten Hag let anyone leave from the department in January unless a very good offer came through the door.

Not unless we sign a new centre-back.
