Preview: Everton vs Manchester United – Toffees look to galvanise

Manchester United travel to Goodison Park in a 4.30pm kick-off in the Premier League on Sunday with Everton reeling from their 10-point deduction after being punished for breaking financial rules.

The Toffees dropped to 19th in the Premier League table following the deduction with Sheffield United and Luton Town moving above them in the standings.

Despite putting in a number of poor performances, United are the most in-form side in the Premier League over the past five matches. Erik ten Hag’s side have picked up 12 points from a possible 15.

My fear is that the points deduction could galvanise Everton on Sunday and they’d take the draw.

It’s never an easy trip to Goodison Park and Everton will want to respond positively after they docked points in the league. Fans are planning to protest at the game in attempt to air their views against the Premier League.

United won away at Everton last season but it wasn’t an easy victory.

Anything but a win for United would be deemed another setback in a season that has been full of them. Furthermore, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe arriving at the club, Erik ten Hag could do without putting himself under more pressure at the club.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Manchester United
