Ten Hag can breathe sigh of relief over player’s injury status as cameo could determine Everton involvement

Erik ten Hag can breathe a sigh of relief over Marcus Rashford’s fitness status after injury concerns were sparked on Friday evening.

In England’s penultimate Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta last week, the Manchester United forward was forced off in an early substitution after colliding with teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold and looking in considerable pain following the clash.

However, he was deemed fit enough to feature for his nation this evening as the Three Lions played their 10th and final qualifying game versus North Macedonia. Rashford wasn’t deployed from the get-go but entered the fold in the 84th minute to see out their 1-1 draw, with the Three Lions having already booked their spot at next year’s tournament in Germany.

Should he have been sidelined, the 26-year-old would’ve joined several Reds in the treatment room, including Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and fellow Englishman Luke Shaw.

United return to action on Sunday

Nevertheless, Rashford will likely take his usual place in the starting 11 come Sunday afternoon when United take on Everton at Goodison Park in their return to Premier League action.
