Manchester United could take advantage of Everton situation with double swoop

Reports suggest Manchester United are trying to take advantage of Everton’s recent issues.

Everton were given a 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules earlier this week, though that won’t be the end of their problems if clubs like United try to take their best players next.

Rumours are circulating that Everton could be sued for approximately £300m by three former Premier League clubs – including Leicester City, Southampton and Leeds. The three clubs were relegated to the Championship last season, while the Toffees escaped the drop – only to receive a 10-point deduction this time around which would have sent them down.

If the clubs are successful in suing Everton, it is expected to shake things up for Sean Dyche’s squad of players. It could mean that selling players is the key way to raise funds which could be music to the ears of several clubs in the top flight.

In turn, The Express link United with Everton duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana.

United are set to make lots of changes at recruitment level, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe coming in as minority shareholder, but the first step could be to take advantage of Everton’s financial difficulties.

With speculation growing over Casemiro and Raphael Varane potentially moving to the Saudi Pro League, these two signings would at least provide a bit of cover for United.
