Pundit blames Erik ten Hag for Marcus Rashford’s struggling form

Tim Sherwood, of all people, believes he knows why Marcus Rashford is struggling for form.

Keep in mind Sherwood has never worked with Rashford. I highly doubt he knows him or what is on his mind.

There could be a lot more going on behind the scenes with Rashford and I find Sherwood baffling the best of times, but we’re not going to lie and say he’s been at his best this season when he hasn’t.

Rashford has put in a number of below-par performances and his demeanour has been criticised by man from afar. His most notable moment was the unfortunate sending-off against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

In his last outing for England, on Friday night, he collided with Trent Alexander Arnold and came off worse. That said, Gareth Southgate did not sound worried about taking him off as a precaution.

Speaking to Saturday Social, Sherwood had some words for both Rashford and Erik ten Hag who he blames for the forward’s struggling form.

“No, not a chance,” Sherwood said when asked if Rashford deserved his place in the England squad, as quoted by UnitedInFocus.

“And he can thank his manager for playing his way out of the England team, unfortunately. I think if he was at Man City now he’s got all the attributes to be a world-class player and make the team.

“I think there’s not going to be a turnaround between now and the end of the season, unfortunately. I think he can thank Ten Hag for that because it’s not been good enough.”

Sherwood wasn’t saying that last season when Rashford scored 30 goals under Ten Hag.
