Erik ten Hag has somewhat arrested Manchester United’s plight in the Premier League, with his side registering their fourth win in five league games earlier on Saturday.

The Reds are struggling in Europe as they sit bottom of their Champions League group but are finding some form domestically.

Victor Lindelof became the unlikely hero on Saturday when he scored the only goal in a win against Luton, sending United up to sixth in the table, three points behind Liverpool in fourth place.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag expressed his delight at another win but admitted that he would have liked to have made it more comfortable by scoring a second goal and thus avoiding a nervy ending.

United have won seven games in the Premier League so far but they are yet to win by more than one goal – an aspect that will be frustrating for Ten Hag as his side continues to struggle in the final third.

“It is a good day. We needed the win and we got it but we could make life more easy by scoring early on and getting a second,” Ten Hag is quoted as saying by the BBC.

“We created the chances but we didn’t score apart from one. I am happy with that and I am happy with the clean sheet. We had many chances before half time and you should net one of them. After half time, get the second and then the game is gone. Now you keep them alive and they can get an equaliser from balls dropping in the wrong place.”

Ten Hag also touched on Rasmus Hojlund’s search for a first Premier League goal. The forward is the joint-top goalscorer in the Champions League but has not found the net in the league yet.

The manager does not appear to be concerned over his star man’s lack of goals in the Premier League, however, reassuring fans that the goals will come with time.

“Rasmus Hojlund has scored five times in the Champions League. He has the confidence and the goals will come,” he added.

  1. Yeh, OK, I admit it: I drink too much – far too much. But it gives me sweet visions; such sweet, sweet visions. Like today: I look at the league table and, in my drunken stupor, I seem to see the crap Manchester United, with our out-of-his-depth Manager, ahead of Newcastle. Wonderful, wonderful Newcastle with their knows-what-he’s-doing Manager appear to be behind our *fraud* Manager’s outfit.
Pass the bottle: another glass of the same, please.
    Red, of course.
