Preview: United must put midweek miseries behind them and kickstart winning run vs Luton

Manchester United welcome Luton Town to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon for a 3pm kick-off.

It’s a return to Premier League action for the Red Devils and they’ll be looking to put their midweek miseries behind them; a tumultuous night in Denmark saw United surrender a 2-0 lead to eventually lose 4-3 at the hands of Copenhagen in their Champions League clash – a third loss of the group stage that now has them rock bottom of Group A.

Whilst the prospect of a European exit will undoubtedly be on the players’ minds, they must now switch their attention to moving up the table and closing the gap on fellow top-four rivals. United are eighth-placed and six points off of Arsenal in fourth.

Tomorrow’s match marks the final fixture before an international break – thankfully, the last one of the year, so heading into it on a high will be key.

Luton have faced a turbulent first campaign in the Premier League following their promotion earlier this year. Currently, they have picked up one win, three draws and sustained seven losses, but will take solace in the fact that they are outside the bottom three in 17th place.

They’re on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw to Liverpool, in which they were unlucky to not take the win, as the equaliser came late in injury-time from Luis Diaz. Former Red Tahith Chong netted the Hatters’ opener while fellow Carrington graduate Teden Mengi, who left United in the summer, started the game, so they can expect a warm welcome on their return to Old Trafford.
