Sir Jim Ratcliffe aims to be running football operations at Manchester United next week

Sir Jim Ratcliffe aims to start work at Manchester United next week, according to reports.

Alan Nixon, a journalist with a newsletter (£), suggests that Ratcliffe’s buy-in is nearing completion. It is believed the British billionaire has struck a deal with the Glazers for a 25% stake in the club.

The deal is said to be worth more than £1.25 billion.

However, Nixon’s update on Ratcliffe claims he aims to be calling the shots by Monday.

That would mean we are getting close to an official announcement – granted the report is accurate.

Furthermore, Ratcliffe is planning to invest £245 million into the club’s infrastructure at Old Trafford once the partial takeover is announced. Major changes will be expected at United if the Ineos founder take control of sporting operations at Old Trafford.

Some figures – such as Richard Arnold and John Murtough – may be seeking employment elsewhere. The biggest problem we face is the Glazers, so hopefully this is the start of an eventual exit for the American family.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol gave a similar update this afternoon, as seen below, but he states a date has been agreed for the announcement. United must be careful since Sir Bobby Charlton’s funeral has been scheduled for Monday, and it goes without saying that it shouldn’t be announced on that day.

More updates when we have them.
