David de Gea has been a free agent since his Manchester United contract expired during the summer.
Erik ten Hag opted to bring in a new goalkeeper, with Andre Onana arriving from Inter Milan after previously playing under the Dutchman in his successful Ajax side.
Onana is taking time to settle but the same was said about De Gea after he joined from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
However, De Gea has been unable to find a new club as of yet, and it’s crazy to think that about a goalkeeper who was regarded the best in the world a couple of years ago. I guess life comes at you fast, in some cases, but things may be starting to look up for the Spaniard.
A move could now be on the cards with La Liga outfit Real Betis now attending to sign De Gea.
According to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Real Betis have now met with De Gea to discuss a potential deal.
The former United keeper faced Los Verdiblancos in the Europa League last season.
De Gea is said to be ‘excited’ by the prospect of a move, which suggest there is interest from both parties to find an agreement.
Former Man City shot stopper Claudio Bravo is currently the first-choice option at Real Betis, with Rui Silva ruled out with an injury. De Gea would be expected to become their new man between the sticks.
It would be good to see De Gea back playing football because he’s too young to retire or waste his days playing in the Saudi Pro League.
