Erik ten Hag confirmed on Tuesday evening that he does not expect to see Casemiro or Lisandro Martinez back in action before Christmas.
The two Manchester United stars have both played pivotal roles since signing in the summer of 2022 and have been/will be sorely missed the longer they are unavailable, especially over the hectic festive period.
For Martinez, he suffered a re-aggravation of the metatarsal fracture that saw his 2022/2023 campaign end prematurely. The issue had never healed correctly, which led to him having to take painkillers in the opening games of this term and undergoing a second surgery to correct the problem.
Meanwhile, Casemiro sustained a knock to his ankle on Brazil duty in October and missed a string of games for the club before returning to face Newcastle United last week. However, he was withdrawn at half-time in that match and following the full-time whistle, it was announced that he had sustained a hamstring injury and would be sidelined for several weeks.
