Casemiro ruled out for several weeks after latest injury blow

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been ruled out of action for several weeks.

It feels like United’s season is going from bad to worse when it comes to results and injuries, and it would be naïve not to think that we’d be in this position if those absent were available. Especially Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw, who are both deeply missed in Erik ten Hag’s defence.

The injury crisis at Old Trafford has been unprecedented, with no fewer than 16 players experiencing periods out of the team since the beginning of the season.

Of course, it was great to see Aaron Wan-Bissaka return to the team on Wednesday night against Newcastle, but he came on at half-time as Casemiro hobbled off.

According to United We Stand editor Andy Mitten, Casemiro faces several weeks in the treatment room due to a hamstring injury.

This means we are likely to see Sofyan Amrabat get more starts in the middle of the pitch. Hopefully, the Moroccan and his teammates, stand up and find ways for us to win matches throughout the ongoing injury crisis.

Casemiro has not played well this season, but losing him to injury is far from ideal. The team lacks leaders and I was hoping the Brazilian would hit a good run of form before Christmas.

As a result, Casemiro will miss Saturday’s game against Fulham and next Wednesday’s crucial Champions League tie against Copenhagen.

Ten Hag is expected to give an injury update on his squad at this afternoon’s press conference before travelling to Craven Cottage on Saturday.
