Andre Onana is confident Manchester United will bounce back from a slow start to the season.
The Cameroon international saved a penalty in stoppage-time last night to ensure the Reds got three points on the board in Group A.
Onana signed for United from Inter Milan in July and he’s endured a rocky start to life at Old Trafford.
However, on Tuesday night he was United’s hero, saving a 97th-minute penalty from Jordan Larsson.
The only goal in the game came from Harry Maguire as he headed home with 18 minutes of normal time remaining.
Onana believes United can use last night’s win to kick on. He told TNT Sports (via Manchester Evening News): “Of course [there’s resilience]. We are Manchester United, we’re a very big club with big players. So it’s just a matter of time, now we have to continue like this and we’ll get through this.”
Speaking about his penalty save and Maguire’s match-winning goal, Onana added: “I just had to do my job, you know. I had to do it for us to win, to win against a very tough opponent, we had a great game.
“Great goal from the big man, Harry, and I’m very happy, we have to continue like that.”
Next up for United is the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.
