Inter Milan chief makes interesting admission on potential Andre Onana return

Manchester United signed Andre Onana for a hefty transfer fee in July – a year on from when Inter Milan signed the goalkeeper as a free agent.

Now, Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has refused to rule out the prospect of re-signing Onana in the future.

“I can’t predict the future, but in football anything can happen,” said Marotta, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano. “For sure, it was a great chapter for Onana and for us.

“It was also a successful deal to sign him for free and sell for that money.”

The Cameroonian, 27, put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Old Trafford in a deal worth over £43 million, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Erik ten Hag previously worked with Onana at Ajax, so he knew what he was getting… a goalkeeper renowned for playing out from the back, but one lacking in shot-stopping abilities.

However, Onana has made an underwhelming start to his United career. There’s already been a number of howlers and he’s only managed three clean sheets in 11 games.

Onana kept 19 clean sheets in 41 appearances for Inter. His last appearance came in a Champions League final defeat against Man City.

Ten Hag will believe Onana can bounce back from his rocky start. It’s just a shame we could be without him for a month when the African Cup of Nations kicks-off.
