Manchester United launch investigation into injury crisis

Manchester United are investigating the unprecedented injury crisis that has hit Erik ten Hag’s side in his second season as manager.

According to the Daily Mail, the Reds are believed to be attempting to unearth the root of the problem that has contributed to a slow start to the 2023/24 campaign.

Something we touched on in the recent podcast was the amount of games our stars play every season, which won’t be helped by UEFA looking to expand the Champions League.

At least 16 of Ten Hag’s players have been unavailable for a period of the opening 11 games through injury, illness or off-field issues. That includes most of our summer signings too – including Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon.

Poor results have put Ten Hag under pressure, having overseen six defeats, but he knows the only way to turn things around is by the team winning football matches.

It will help when everyone is back fully fit, but United are seemingly taking action to discover trends that have led to the influx of injuries so they can prevent it from happening again.

I would love to be a fly on the wall during those meetings.

‘So, why is everyone injured?’

‘Not a clue.’

‘Sound.’

*Investigation ends*

United currently have nine players out if you include Jadon Sancho, who has been banished from first team activities. The others are injured: Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo, Sergio Reguilon, Raphael Varane and Amad Diallo.
