Mason Mount will have regrets over Manchester United transfer, says Glen Johnson

Mason Mount will already have regrets over quitting Chelsea to join Manchester United, if you believe what Glen Johnson has to say on the matter.

Mount, 24, joined a five-year deal with United this summer. The England international has been injured since then but he’s yet to find his best form in a United shirt.

The criticism isn’t helped by United’s slow start to the season, losing four of their opening eight Premier League games while also losing our first two matches in the Champions League.

To his credit, Mount has impressed in patches and I don’t think he’s been anywhere near as poor as Louis Saha suggested in a recent interview.

However, former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson believes Mount will be regretting his decision to leave the Blues for United.

“At the moment he will be [regretting his decision to join Manchester United],” Johnson explained to Betfred, as relayed by The Mirror.

“Manchester United are a very big football club, but you don’t join them with the expectation that you’re going to be part of a team that’s tenth in the Premier League.

“You only want to go there to challenge for major honours, and I know that Chelsea aren’t in a better position at this very moment, but you don’t move to Old Trafford in the expectation that you’re going to struggle. I don’t know why he decided to leave Chelsea, but I’m sure he’s questioning his decision at this very moment.”

It’s a premature judgment and I think Johnson is only saying it for attention. United have had a slow start to the season, but we’re ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table. We can put a lot of our struggles down to injuries and problems off the pitch but things will click for us eventually.
