Jadon Sancho’s fallout with Erik ten Hag was fuelled by manager’s preference for Antony

Jadon Sancho’s issues with Erik ten Hag reportedly began when the manager signed Antony last summer, as per Jacque Talbot.

The 23-year-old remains exiled from all first-team action and facilities after refusing to apologise to Ten Hag for calling him a liar, and the most likely outcome of the scenario is that Sancho leaves Manchester United in 2024.

Sancho is believed to have felt aggrieved when Antony signed from Ajax in 2022. It’s no secret that Ten Hag is fond of the Brazilian, and the common assumption is that that’s why he starts more frequently on the right flank – much to Sancho’s dismay.

Certain figures have labelled Antony as a ‘golden child’ under Ten Hag, despite his form also yet to reflect his £82 million price tag.

Sancho expected to leave United

Whether it be a loan or permanent transfer, the Englishman is preparing to pack his bags and depart Old Trafford this January, though his next club remains undetermined. Rumours suggest that a return to Borussia Dortmund may be on the cards, while Juventus have also seemingly established their interest.

It may benefit United to oversee a temporary exit first before selling Sancho as if any bids were to come in in the winter, they would be nowhere near the £73m they paid for him. Should he perform well on loan, interested sides may feel more inclined to table higher offers and the Reds could therefore recuperate some of the fee.

  1. But Sancho’s preferred position seems to be the left flank even though Ole initially signed him to play on the right.Another classic case of Man U’s shambolic recruitment policy

  2. There is something deeper about this feud. If it is only about poor performance, can someone explain to me how ‘golden boy’ dj antony spinner gets into first 11 every game yet his a flop?

  3. ten hag coached antony for 2 years and thought he was good enough for the PL. it proves ETH is out of his depth.

transfermarkt. antony signed for 95m worth 50m
luis diaz signed for 47 worth 75. blimey.

I think fans had high hopes for ten hag but the ones who actually know football know that he is another ole. no style. no proper pressing, just favourites fc.

as for sancho, he clearly can’t stand ETH and the way ETH handled the situation should be of concern. i can’t remember another coach coming out so publicly about training. even if true, keep it in house.
