Manchester United XI vs Brentford: Maguire and Evans in, Varane out

Erik ten Hag has named his Manchester United line-up to face Brentford at Old Trafford.

When the fixture list came out this looked like an easy run for the Reds, but we go into today’s game after losing six of our first 10 games this season.

The nightmare start got worse in the past week as United lost at home to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.

However, this is a third successive Saturday 3pm at Old Trafford and United badly need a win.

Andre Onana starts between the sticks.

Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot will fulfil the full-back roles, while the manager opts for Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire at centre-back. Raphael Varane is not in the squad due to a minor issue.

In midfield, Casemiro keeps his place in the side, but it’s not like Ten Hag has an array of options to call upon for the defensive midfield role. The Brazilian is joined by Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat.

In attack, Rasmus Hojlund leads the line and will be joined by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Manchester United XI: Onana; Lindelof, Maguire, Evans, Dalot; Casemiro, Amrabat, Mount; Fernandes, Hojlund, Rashford.
