Manchester United are continuing to struggle this season as the campaign hit a new low on Saturday afternoon, with Erik ten Hag’s men suffering their second home defeat of the season in the league.
It’s a stark contrast to the United we saw last season as the Reds were bettered just once in the 2022/23 campaign – the opening game of that season.
It was United’s fifth defeat of the season in just nine games in all competitions – a highly worrying trend for Ten Hag who is struggling to drag his side out of this slump.
Going into the season with title ambitions, United are now facing the challenge of resurrecting a charge to make this season’s top four and securing back-to-back entries into Europe’s fine dining table.
To add to Ten Hag’s misery, the Dutchman has now become the manager to set an unwanted record at the club. According to UtdDistrict, United have now lost four of their opening seven Premier League games for the first time in history.
United do not look like the side that impressed for much of last season and certainly not like the side that went undefeated at Old Trafford for nearly all of the campaign.
The worrying aspect is that United do not look like they are about to turn a corner anytime soon either. They are not improving on their performances despite Ten Hag clearly pointing out what the problem was in each game.

The buck stops with the manager, he buys them , he picks them , he decides the tactics and he carries the can when as a team they are absolutely useless, week after week.
