United team news for Palace: Two defenders dealt layoffs, two midfielders return

Manchester United are undergoing their final preparations for the second instalment of a double-header vs Crystal Palace.

Erik ten Hag is again having to navigate several changes to his personnel, as numerous players’ availability statuses have altered.

First and foremost, Lisandro Martinez faces a two-to-three-month spell on the sidelines after a previous foot injury was aggravated against Arsenal on September 3.

The defender fractured a metatarsal bone in April that saw his campaign end prematurely and underwent successful surgery to correct the problem, but it has now flared up again – hence his omission from United’s past two games.

Sergio Reguilon ruled out

Sergio Reguilon reportedly pushed to play in last Saturday’s win over Burnley despite being ill but proceeded to miss the midweek Carabao Cup tie against the Eagles. The unspecified issue means he is also unavailable for tomorrow’s Premier League clash.

Long-term absentees include Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

On a positive note, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay will return to the fold after recovering from their respective illnesses this week.
