Lisandro Martinez is facing a spell on the sidelines after an aggravation of the foot injury that saw his 2022/2023 campaign cut short.
The defender sustained a metatarsal fracture in April during a Europa League tie with Sevilla. It ruled him out of the remainder of the season, including the FA Cup final against Manchester City, but he did undergo successful surgery to correct the injury.
Now, Martinez has missed two of Manchester United’s recent games after the issue flared up again during their away clash against Arsenal on September 3.
Martinez’s expected return timeframe
Simon Stone of the BBC has confirmed that the Argentine will miss around two-to-three months worth of action, which comes as a significant blow for the club as they look to pick up form following a poor start to the term.
Raphael Varane has recently returned to the fold, so it’ll be one of Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof partnering the Frenchman for the foreseeable period.
