Jonny Evans was given his first start for Manchester United since 2015.
The Northern Ireland international, 35, had a goal disallowed by VAR and created Bruno Fernandes; winner just as the fourth official had taken his seat after signalling added time for the first half.
A lot of fans weren’t happy with the idea of Evans starting the game, but with Lisandro Martinez ruled out before kick-off, Ten Hag had no other choice.
And to Evans’ credit, he performed brilliantly and showed that he can still do a job against opposition like Burnley.
United fans sang his name to the tune of Gary Neville’s chant: “Jonny Evans is a red, he hates Scousers” and you could tell he was enjoying himself out on the pitch.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Evans said: “I loved every minute of it. Coming on the bus, I was just buzzing. I think that was my 200th game for Man United and I never thought I’d do that. It’s an absolute honour and one of the best nights of my life, coming back and playing for the club again.”
"I 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 every minute of it!"
