Manchester United have arrested their losing streak as they make the trip back to Manchester with three points following a hard-fought win over Burnley on Saturday evening.
Erik ten Hag’s men had lost the last three games in all competitions but are now back on the winning track after Bruno Fernandes scored the winning goal at Turf Moor by way of a stunning first-half volley.
United were far better in the second half and were lucky not to concede in the first half but Ten Hag will be happy with some of the things he saw over the 90 minutes.
Andre Onana enjoyed a solid outing between the sticks and Jonny Evans, who made his first start for the club since 2015, was arguably the best player on the pitch.

Needed a good game after that performance in Munich and the Cameroon international delivered. Looked assured at all times and made a couple of crucial saves.

Struggled in the first 20 minutes but recovered well.

Solid throughout.
Jonny Evans – 9
Made his 200th appearance for United this evening and what a way to mark it. He thought he had scored on his return to the side but VAR took that moment away but minutes later, he would supply Fernandes with an inch-perfect pass in the build-up to United’s opening goal. Great performance.
Sergio Reguilon – 7
Continued to impress in his first couple of United performances.
Casemiro – 8
After two goals in Munich, it looks like Casemiro is slowly but surely returning to the player we saw last season.
Scott McTominay – 6
It hasn’t been a good start to the season for McTominay whenever he has played.
Bruno Fernandes – 8
That goal alone earns him a couple of marks – what a strike. Not as influential in the game over 90 minutes when he’s pushed to the flank.
Hannibal Mejbri – 8
His first start of the season after his goalscoring cameo against Brighton last weekend and that performance will have given Ten Hag something to think about going into next weekend’s Premier League action. Definitely one to keep an eye out for this season.
Marcus Rashford – 6
His slow start to the season continues – does not look completely comfortable in one-on-one situations and his decision-making is not what it was six months ago.
Rasmus Hojlund – 6
Puts in the effort and it’s clear to see that United have been missing a player like him for years.
Hannibal played with an intensity that has been lacking with many of the United players. I thought he would tire quickly after 20 minutes but he motored on the whole game. The big egos should look at the game films and learn from his never give up attitude. Likewise Hojlund displayed the same intensity as the 9. Evans showed his experience years later after the questionable decision LVG made. Rashford is back to his holding the ball too long and not making quick decisions about distribution while the defenders crowd around him like flys near a honey jar.
Manchester United should blackout all media reports so that the players can be left alone to reflect on their performance without negative overtones from the media.
Their performance will improve tremendously and Erik ten Hag cannot behave like Jose Mourinho and ostracise players beyond reasonable bounds of discipline and banish players.
Like him, the players are also paid millions of pounds during their tenure as players.
To get rid of them, will cause loss to the club and also put the club in a bad light, for new recruits and potential ones.
