Pellistri and Hojlund start: confirmed Manchester United line-up vs Bayern Munich

Erik ten Hag has named his lineup for this evening’s opening Champions League group game against Bayern Munich, with the Dutchman hoping to get off to a winning start after a difficult start to the domestic season.

United have lost three of their five opening Premier League games, including the last two, and Bayern Munich are heavy favourites to grab an immediate advantage over the Reds in their Champions League group.

United lost the opening game in European competitions in each of the last two seasons but Ten Hag will be desperate to change that pattern this evening.

There are no returning players on the injury front, with Raphael Varane and Mason Mount conitnuing to watch on from the sidelines despite returning to training. Sofyan Amrabat is also unavailable.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was tipped to start the game but it was revealed earlier this week that the right-back will be injured for the foreseeable future.

Instead, Diogo Dalot holds his place at right-back and Sergio Reguilon, United’s best player against Brighton four days ago, plays at left-back.

Casemiro is partnered by Christian Eriksen in midfield and interestingly, Facundo Pellistri is handed the chance to make his Champions League debut and make his first start of the season.

Rasmus Hojlund also starts to make it two starts from as many games, with Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes supporting him in the final third.

  1. The team morale is down already, he need some stability before setting up an attacking minded team always.

Mic should start ahead of Eriksen likewise playing 3 central back is an option to stabilze the team by using 3-4-3 formation to add more personnel in defence.
