Harry Kane had reportedly set his sights on a 2024 move to Manchester United, as per Mail Sport’s United Confidential.

The 30-year-old completed a high-profile move to Bayern Munich in August in a deal worth £100 million, ending his 19-year association with Tottenham Hotspur.

In the later stages of his Spurs career, Kane was frequently linked with a switch to the Red Devils, whose notorious striker woes had long continued at Old Trafford.

Mail’s report states that the forward’s heart was set on United if he left North London and had planned to see out the remaining year of his contract before making the move to Manchester in 2024.

However, Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sanction his star man’s exit and United’s unavoidable need for a No.9 this year meant that ultimately, the Reds had to end their pursuit and opt for a cheaper alternative.

Kane knew United move was off

This came in the form of 20-year-old Rasmus Hojlund, who signed from Atalanta for £64m (plus £8m in add-ons). When the young Dane put pen to paper on a five-year deal, Kane knew his hopes of representing the 20-time champions were over.

He then opted to depart the Premier League – where he sits second on the list of the division’s all-time top goalscorers (213) – and has embarked on a new venture with the Bundesliga giants. The Three Lions captain will make his Champions League debut with the club tomorrow against United.
