One of Antony’s three accusers has dropped their complaint against the Manchester United forward.
Antony, 23, is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavillin on four occasions. The player has since come out to deny any wrongdoing, although it’s important to note at this point that he has not been arrested or charged with any of the offences.
The club decided to put Antony on paid leave on September 10 and released a statement which read (via ManUtd.com): “Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday.
“However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.
“As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
A separate accusation from Ingrid Lana alleged that Antony was aggressive towards her in October 2022. In an interview with Record TV, she claimed that he could have killed her with his actions.
However, The Telegraph claim that a third case, involving an incident in a car in May 2022, has been withdrawn at the request of the alleged victim.
Law student Rayssa de Freitas claims she needed hospital treatment following an incident in May of last year. The incident allegedly involved Antony and Mallu Ohana – the ex-wife of Brazil player Dudu – in a Sao Paulo nightclub.
Now the report has been retracted in full and it is thought both women in the car had accused the other of sexual assault.
The Telegraph add that Manchester United were unaware of the existence of this police report until Brazilian media coverage earlier this month. Someone at the club is doing their best to explain that they carried out due diligence checks on the Brazil international.
The incident in the report is alleged to have happened three moments before Antony’s £85m transfer to Old Trafford.
