Manchester United in advanced talks to sign £60m per year shirt deal

Manchester United are understood to be in advanced talks of a new front-of-shirt sponsorship with U.S. technology company Qualcomm.

This news emerged from The Athletic on Monday and states that United are targeting a deal that would see them earn £60 million ($75.1m) per year.

My instant fear is if the Glazers are making deals like this, surely they would be letting the sponsor aware of their intentions to sell the club in the foreseeable future. And, if they are happy to make multi-year deals, is that a suggestion they won’t be going anywhere?

The Athletic don’t expect the new sponsorship deal to come into force this season, so it is expected to commence in time for the next campaign when TeamViewer will be removed from the shirt.

Although it’s sounds like more of a gimmick than anything else, Qualcomm have supposedly agreed to advise United on planned improvements to mobile connectivity to Old Trafford.
