Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he turned down role from Norwegian FA

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits he turned down the opportunity to manage Norway women’s national team.

Solskjaer, 50, has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United three years ago.

The Norwegian, who was loved as a player as well as a manager at United, has been linked with several jobs – but none of that speculation materialised into anything serious.

Solskjaer has confirmed in an interview over the weekend that he received an approach from the Norwegian FA over a managerial role with the women’s national team.

However, he admits he is not ready for that yet.

Speaking to Norwegian outlet NRK, Solskjaer said: “Have I spoken to the association about the national team? Yes I have, of course I have. They have asked. But I’m not ready for that yet.

“I have one more job first, at least on the men’s side. That is for sure.”

I don’t know about you, and I know it would be a setback for his coaching career, but I would like to see Solskajer back at the club in some capacity.

Whether it’s as an ambassador or Head of Academy. Solskjaer is clearly above that now but I always got the feeling he’d be happy at United whether it was just to clean the player’s boots!
