Manchester United trying to sign Sofyan Amrabat on loan due to FFP situation

Manchester United are working on a deal to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat before the transfer deadline on Friday.

United have been linked with Amrabat, 27, throughout the summer, although it felt like one of those Wesley Sneidjer-esque sagas.

Most of the reports came from Italian newspapers and there was little coming from the British press.

However, the super reliable David Ornstein has an update that will excite United fans.

The Athletic claims United are attempting to agree a loan deal for Amrabat, with the player keen on a move to Old Trafford. A permanent deal is deemed unlikely because of United’s financial fair play situation.

While Amrabat is under contract until 2024, the Serie A club has the option to extend by a further 12 months.

The Morocco international has been left out of the team this season and it looks like they have been preparing for his departure, however, it remains to be seen if they will agree to a loan move.

The report also suggests that Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch was considered for the role.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Amrabat is the missing part of the jigsaw in United’s midfield or if you would prefer Gravenberch.

  1. If we don’t sign amrabat, we are going to struggle anytime casemiro is injured, or have overplay games for us, either loan or permanent , we must make one

  2. Another screwed up transfer window down to the disgusting American Glazer parasites, awful transfer window, not surprised because this is down to the Glazers, still too much deadwood at United like the average at best Martial, United will be lucky to be in the top 6 by time January window opens, and if the Glazers are still at United, they WON’T release any funds, they have NEVER paid 1 penny off of the debts, that’s why we are hindered by FFP because of the Glazers total Greed. We have just gone backwards in keeping up with the likes of City etc because of them.
