Jamaica could relaunch Mason Greenwood’s international career

Mason Greenwood could be given a fresh chance on the international stage after learning that he will never play for Manchester United again.

It was announced on Monday that Greenwood will leave United by mutual agreement.

This news came after the forward was suspended by the club since January 2022 over allegations relating to a young women after images and videos were shared online.

Charges against Greenwood included attempted rape and assault, but these were all dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.

That led to United conducting their own internal investigation into the matter.

However, Greenwood is now looking for a new club whether it’s on loan or a permanent deal. He will need to sort that before he starts to think about international football, but there is a claim in the Daily Mail that there’s ‘still’ interest in him from Jamaica.

The report suggests Greenwood’s future as an England international is up in the air. If the Three Lions decided not to call up Greenwood again, he is eligible to play for Jamaica even though he’s played a competitive fixture under Gareth Southgate.

Furthermore, the next European Championships could be Southgate’s last tournament as England manager.
