Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot are seemingly over the moon with Manchester United’s latest arrivals this summer.
Erik ten Hag is looking to build on a promising first term when the Red Devils kick off their 2023/2024 campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.
The Dutch boss bolstered his squad with three additions across the summer, all of which in positions that were in dire need of upgrades. Mason Mount was the first signing through the doors at Carrington and he was closely followed by Andre Onana. Both players have since featured for the side in their pre-season tour, but their official debuts will come against Wolves.
Rasmus Hojlund was later sought to end United’s longstanding striker woes, however, he will be watching on from the sidelines for the opening fixtures of the term, as a back injury will keep him out of the action.
Shaw and Dalot laud new arrivals
Dalot and Shaw, who were frequent starters under Ten Hag last term, have weighed in on their new teammates with glowing verdicts.
The Portuguese international said (via Manchester Evening News): “So far, [they are fitting in] perfectly. Apart from [being] fantastic football players, they are fantastic human beings and when that happens I think it gets easier for us to get along with them. They’re such a nice person [people], you can see they work hard and that’s the standard for the club, so it’s a perfect match.”
Shaw added: “They’ve been brilliant. I think the good thing was obviously Andre [Onana] and Mase [Mount] were able to come away on pre-season, get to know the lads more, [it] made them settle in a bit more and I think they’ve been brilliant.”
“They’re going to add a lot to this squad,” the left-back continued. “They have experience of winning things as well – it’s always important to add that balance of what they bring to the squad.”
