Pavard will push for United move but club’s pursuit is dependent on Maguire’s exit

Benjamin Pavard will push to sign for Manchester United but his arrival is dependent on Harry Maguire’s exit, as per Kaveh Solhekol

Bayern Munich want a fee of around €30 million to sanction the exit of the Frenchman, who is out of contract next summer and unwilling to sign a new deal. It was confirmed this morning that the Bundesliga giants had rejected United’s opening bid for Pavard.

However, United’s pursuit of the defender may be put on ice due to Harry Maguire’s move to West Ham United facing a roadblock. Both parties are yet to agree personal terms despite the Irons having their £30m bid accepted this week.

Maguire’s future still uncertain

This could result in the England international staying at Old Trafford and seeing out the remaining two years on his contract, consequently ending the Red Devils’ interest in Pavard.

Erik ten Hag’s preferred centre-back pairing remains the same as last season – Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez – but depth is key in the position.

  1. Really, Maguie is a total loss to us as far as being a positive contributor to the team. He is a world record-breaking loss!! We need to view him as such. write him off, and leave him as a stop gap, for whenever a dire need arises, until his contract runs out! Pavard’s purchase should not hinge on someone who will never give up a lucrative contract just to compete. He will stay put, even as a reserve player. Not knowing the exact issues we face with FFP, I would blindly say that we probably sold and released enough players to fund Pavard’s move to us. Of course, these incoming transfer funds may be keeping us within FFP Limits after our most recent incoming transfers, therefore not available for new transfers. Nonetheless, The Midfield can wait until we sell, or even until the next transfer window. We still have McTominay. Right now, we need a center back!! A real and quick center back, not a slow-moving one who is Ill suited for the United Way of playing!!
