Premier League club may make late move to sign Manchester United winger

Manchester United are not done with incomings this summer, although Erik ten Hag may feel he has got the most important signings through the door already.

The Dutchman will be keen to add some depth in some areas, however, with departures potentially leaving the club light in some departments.

As we enter the final couple of weeks of the transfer window, high-profile departures are expected. Fred, the Brazil international, left the club on Friday when the club announced that he had put an end to his five-year stay to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Harry Maguire is another player who is closing in on an exit after West Ham had a bid expected. Eric Bailly and Donny van de Beek are also expected to depart.

Jadon Sancho’s future at Old Trafford is also uncertain, despite featuring regularly during pre-season. The winger has endured two difficult campaigns in Manchester and now, it is being reported that Aston Villa could be preparing a move.

That’s according to CaughtOffside, who say that Unai Emery’s men are among the clubs taking a look at Sancho’s situation at United.

As per the report, amid struggling Villa wingers, Sancho has been added to Emery’s list of potential candidates to bolster his frontline in what would be a late move.

It is also claimed that Villa are not the only club considering Sancho, with other Premier League sides and clubs from abroad monitoring the 23-year-old.

Sancho leaving United at this stage would leave Ten Hag light in that area and it remains to be seen whether that’s something the Dutchman would be ready to sign off on.

Ten Hag blocked Anthony Elanga from completing a January loan move to Everton earlier this calendar year due to the lack of depth in the squad.

Elanga has now left the club on a permanent basis and no replacement has been brought in – allowing the departure of a second winger without bringing one in could be one step too far.
