Manchester United plan to have Rasmus Hojlund available to face Arsenal on September 3.
The 20-year-old striker signed for the club with a minor back injury, which means he will miss the first few games of the new season.
This is far from ideal for a team in desperate need of a centre-forward. It raises questions about whether Erik ten Hag will start the new campaign with Marcus Rashford leading the line, or Jason Sancho in a false 9 role.
It is The Athletic who claim Hojlund could make his debut against Arsenal, and the report adds that the Denmark International is on an individual training programme.
Hojlund was unveiled as a new signing at Old Trafford on Saturday before the friendly match with Lens.
Sadly, however, it looks like he will miss the first three games of the season while carrying out a few weeks of rehabilitation.
The club insist Hojlund’s injury is not a long-term issue.

Good international player but poor domestic STATs, from an inferior league. They are hoping he can match ( gummy no teeth) Haaland. I am not sure if he is consistent due to his domestic STATs. Time will tell.
Did you just called Italia Serie A inferior league? If yes, then you are under arrest
