(Video) Former Red bids farewell to Manchester United fans after completing ‘childhood dream’

Wout Weghorst has bid an emotional farewell to Manchester United after his loan spell expired on June 30.

The Netherlands international spent six months with the Red Devils to lead the line amid Anthony Martial’s ongoing injury crisis.

He certainly didn’t reach the level of goals or contributions that supporters were hoping for, but you can’t fault his passion and desire to succeed in the shirt.

Weghorst has since returned to his parent club Burnley and agreed another loan move to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

In the video he shared today on Instagram captioned ‘childhood dream’, the forward reflected on his brief time as a Red, which included just two goals but one piece of silverware – the Carabao Cup.

He was also fortunate enough to find the back of the net at Old Trafford and hear the roar of the faithful fans in a Europa League clash.

Weghorst reflects on United stint

“United fans, thanks for everything. I really enjoyed every single second at this club,” Weghorst began.

“From winning silverware to scoring my first goal at Old Trafford against [Real] Betis, it’s been a dream come true. It was an unbelievable privilege to wear the shirt and to the United fans, thank you.”
