Manchester United are facing a quick turnaround as Erik ten Hag’s men prepare for their final pre-season friendly of the summer against Athletic Club in Dublin.
The Reds dispatched Lens at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Ten Hag naming a full-strength side for the game against the French side.
None of the players that featured in the game on Saturday are expected to play against Athletic Club on Sunday, giving youngsters and fringe players one final chance to impress the manager.
It is expected that Ten Hag will name an almost identical line-up in the Premier League curtain-raiser against Wolves as the one that played against Lens.
Rasmus Hojlund, the latest big-money signing, was unveiled at Old Trafford on Saturday but he is not believed to be available for this game after it emerged that he is harboring a small injury.
Anthony Martial is another forward who will not be on the pitch in Dublin, with the Frenchman on the sidelines with his latest injury setback.
There could yet be some first-team playesr in the team on Sunday, with a number of regulars being unnamed substitutes against Lens.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof fell into that group of players, with the pairing possibly reuniting to sit in front of Tom Heaton. Aaron Wan-Bissaka could play at right-back but pre-season star Marc Jurado is also an outside shout.
Alvaro Fernandez could play at left-back after impressing this summer, with Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen possibly starting in midfield. Kobbie Mainoo is unavailable after sustaining an injury.
Amad Diallo has also been ruled out, leaving Ten Hag short of options in the forward positions. Hannibal Mejbri could feature, with Facundo Pellistri also in the running.
Joe Hugill has scored one goal in pre-season so far and he could lead the line, with tricky midfielder Shola Shoretire hoping to be involved as well.
