Injured Manchester United star unable to complete £20m transfer

Manchester United are not spending freely this summer but have still been able to allocate enough money to fund big-money transfers, with Mason Mount and Andre Onana set to be followed by the arrival of Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund.

Only small fees have been secured through sales but United may need to cash in on some players if they wish to further strengthen their squad after completing the move to sign Hojlund.

Dean Henderson would be one of the high-value players United would be open to letting go after several years on the fringes at Old Trafford and he has been said to be in talks with Nottingham Forest over a permanent move.

Henderson spent the 2022/23 season on loan with Steve Cooper’s men but had his season cut short after sustaining a long-term injury roughly halfway through the campaign.

With less than two weeks to go before the Premier League season gets underway, Henderson is yet to join Forest and the deal is now said to be hanging in the balance, potentially costing United £20m.

According to Football Insider, the deal that was in place to take Henderson from United to Forest is being held up due to an injury concern.

Despite the hold-up, Henderson is claimed to be one of Forest’s top targets as the two sides continue to discuss the structure of the fee.

It’s reported that Henderson could leave for an initial fee of £15m with an additional £5m in add-ons, with United also vying to include a sell-on clause.

Ten Hag will be happy with United’s transfer window so far and despite strengthening the areas he had identified as weak before the window, the freedom of being able to do business later in the window is rarely unwanted.

  1. Please keep Pellistre,he is a better player than Anthony and Sancho, and much more of a team player.

  2. Why would Ten Hag be “happy” with United’s transfer dealings this summer? They missed out on Kim Min Jae, Harry Kane, Diasai. They completed the American tour without a CF. I think Ten Hag is far from happy.
